Beginning February 1, 2017 the price of pocket paperbacks and romance novels will change to $1 each.
The price of hardcover, trade paperback, and Children's books will remain the same.
Proceeds from The Library Store benefit the Rochester Public Library, so each purchase you make helps the library expand their collections and services to the public.

The Library Store has a selection of new and used items such as:
- Used hardcover, paperback books, CDs and DVDs
- Puzzles, games, and educational toys
- Greeting cards, rulers, bookmarks, and a host of other items that celebrate the love of reading
- Gift items such as jewelry, candles, magnets, educational toys for children, and books by local authors
- Coffee mugs and tote bags with the Rochester Public Library logo

The Rochester Public Library and the Friends & Foundation of RPL are
pleased to accept donations for the library's collections and for
resale in The Library Store and online. Proceeds from the sale of
donated materials support expansion of the Central Library’s collections
and events. Due to limited storage space and minimal demand for certain
materials, please follow the guidelines below.
We happily accept the following items in good condition:
- Hardcover &
less than 1 year old
Geographic Magazines (any date)
- CDs, DVDs and
- New/gently used
board games, educational toys, flash cards, and puzzles
We are unable
- Any books with mold, mildew, stains or odor
*The Local History & Genealogy Division accepts
yearbooks from Monroe County schools. Please contact them directly to
- Incomplete or outdated Encyclopedia Sets (printed 5 or more years ago)
- Books with broken spines, missing covers, or excessive
- Business and computer books, travel guides, catalogs,
test prep and reference books published more than 2 years ago
- Records/LPs, Cassette Tapes & VHS tapes;
homemade DVDs, CDs or other recordings
- Theses or dissertations; school yearbooks*
Donations are received and processed by volunteers at the times listed below. Please call The Library Store in advance at 585.428.8181 to ensure that the store is open and a volunteer is on duty to assist you with your donation.
Fridays & Saturdays from 10am-2pm
*We will not be held responsible for
books and materials donated outside of the appointed times or which do not meet
the above guidelines.
Please pack your donations in sturdy boxes or double plastic
grocery bags. Boxes and bags should not be overloaded or too heavy to carry. If it’s too heavy for you, it’s probably too
heavy for us. These items cannot be unpacked immediately, so please use boxes
and bags that are disposable or that you do not wish to have back.
The Library Store will provide you with a receipt for your
donation. We are legally unable to assess the value of book/media donations,
but we do acknowledge the number of books and materials donated.
To drop off your donation, please pull in to the private staff parking lot located behind the Bausch & Lomb Library Building (see map below) and call 585.428.8181 for assistance in unloading your vehicle.
All books and materials donated become the
property of Friends & Foundation of the Rochester Public Library
and are added to the collections at the library, or sold on-line or in
The Library Store. The proceeds of all sales are used to support the
Rochester Public Library.
