  Library of the YearIn recognition of National Library Week, April 12-18, 2015, the Rochester Regional Library Council will name three libraries--one public, one school and one academic/special--as “RRLC Library of the Year 2015”. Winners will receive a banner and engraved plaque to hang in their library, a $100 gift card, and will be recognized at the RRLC Annual Meeting in June. Nominations for RRLC’s Library of the Year contest must come from library users, so please submit nominations for Penfield Public Library, explaining why you love us. Numbers don’t matter as much as the sentiments expressed. Voting begins on April 5. You can visit by the deadline at midnight on Saturday, April 18, to vote online. All online entries are date-stamped automatically when entered.

 social mediaSocial Media and the Job Search: Tuesday, April 28 at 7:00 pm.
Due to high demand, Arthur Catalanello, VP with Harvey Research, Inc. and Social Media Strategist for the August Group, will return with an updated presentation on how to use social media as a job search tool. This overview will detail the roles of LinkedIn, Twitter, Facebook and Google+ in today's job search environment - why they are important, how they fit with other job search strategies and tips to maximize their effectiveness.  Attendees are encouraged to have some prior social media experience. REGISTRATION began on March 28.

 IDENTIFYING ALLERGIES: Monday, April 20 at 7:00 p.m:  Dr. Allison Ramsey, with fellowship training in allergy and clinical immunology, Jon Terry, the founder of the Allergy Advocacy Association, and Janet Goldman, the project assistant will provide an evidence-based approach to identifying, diagnosing, assessing, and managing anaphylaxis in order to prevent death from severe allergy reactions. A question and answer period will follow. REGISTRATION began Monday, April 6.

 We now offer wireless printing! Whether inside or outside the library, just go to , upload your document, then pick it up using our document station. Our station will remember your document for 3 days.  The cost is 15¢ per black and white side and $1.00 per color side.
