Age Level: 13 yrs. - 18 yrs.

For homeschoolers age 13-18 and their families  A presentation on how poor choices through distraction and inexperience can lead to tragic outcomes.  We will discuss the truth of risky driving behaviors, how they lead to crashes, including the physics of reaction and stopping times. Also showing the consequences from trauma on the body and the realities of a trauma resuscitation, hospitalization, and rehabilitation.  Offering alternatives to many peer-pressure related scenarios when teens are passengers and drivers in motor vehicles. REGISTRATION is required and begins May 14.

Super Smash Bros Brawl Tournament!
2:30  pm - 4:00  pm

Teen Tuesday for grades 9-12.  It’s been everyone’s favorite game all year, and now it’s time to determine the Super Smash Bros Brawl Champion! We project the WiiU game onto a big screen and everyone who wants to will get the chance to compete. Super Smash Bros Brawl for the Wii will be available on the TV for practice and free play. Free refreshments, too. This will be the final Teen Tuesday of the school year!

Homeschool Book Club
10:30  am - 12:00  pm
Age Level: 12 yrs. - 16 yrs.

The Whisper by Aaron Starmer.  For this final meeting (until the fall) we will be reading
The Whisper by Aaron Starmer, the  sequel to a previously discussed favorite, The Riverman. Please read the book and come prepared to talk about your favorite parts!
Registration is not required.


Current SAT/New SAT Combo Practice Test
10:00  am - 1:00  pm

Practice Test presented by Kaplan for 10th graders.  The PSAT/NMSQT® will change in October 2015 followed by a new SAT in March 2016. The Current SAT/New SAT Combo Practice Test can help 2017 graduates understand what to expect, help them prepare and provide some assistance in determining which test might be right for them. Students will benefit from experiencing the structure and timing of the new tests prior to entering their actual Test Day. Score reports will provide students with a comprehensive analysis of their performance on the test, detailing their individual strengths and weaknesses.  Bring a number 2 pencil, a calculator, and a snack, if you wish. Wear comfortable clothing. REGISTRATION is required and begins May 16.


Training for Reading Game Volunteers
11:15  am - 12:15  pm

For Grades 7-12 (Fall, 2015)   Have fun while earning some community service credit! Penfield Public Library is looking for some committed teens to help with our summer reading game for children in grades K – 6, running from June 29th through August 5. Learn how you can help run the reading game during this mandatory training session. To help make the game more enjoyable for everyone we ask that you volunteer for a regular weekly shift.
Please don’t sign-up if you know you will miss more than two weeks of the six week program.
*REGISTRATION begins Monday, June 1 for Penfield town or school district residents; Thursday, June 11 for all others.

You could be an instant winner with our new scratch-off game!
You can get one ticket every day just by asking at the circulation desk, plus one ticket for every teen program attended and completed bingo card turned in to the information desk. Every ticket (winning or losing) is an entry into our weekly prize package raffle, too!

Wizard Rock Concert
4:00  pm - 5:30  pm

It's time to rock out at the Library!  Especially for teens and tweens, but all ages may attend

Whether you're a witch, wizard, or muggle it's time to rock out at the library! Featuring performances from Tonks & the Aurors, Kirstyn Hippe, and Tianna & the Cliffhangers, you'll get to hear rock music about your favorite books like Harry Potter, the Hunger Games, John Green, and more! It's going to be magical and a great way to kick-off summer vacation. Registration is not required.

Super Songs and Stories with Topher Holt
11:00  am - 11:45  am

For children of all ages and their families  Enjoy interactive storytelling through song and dance that is bound to have you and your child moving about, shaking a maraca or beating a drum.
REGISTRATION begins Thursday, June 18 for Penfield town or school district residents; Thursday, June 25 for all others.
