KNIT A BETTER WORLD: HELP WARM UP AMERICA!
2017-06-26
2:30  pm - 3:30  pm

MONDAYS: JUNE 26, JULY 10, JULY 17. GRADES 6 - 12.  Warm Up America! is a charity made up of volunteers who knit and crochet handmade afghans and clothing for those in need. This summer we are inviting beginner and experienced knitters alike to come to one, two, or all three sessions to create 7” x 9”squares. These squares will later be joined together to make full size afghans. Knitting expert Tamara Kelley will lead the group. She will help beginners learn the knit stitch and will also teach new techniques to more advanced knitters. Bring your own size 7 knitting needles if you can or let us know if you would like to borrow a pair from the library. We have a supply of yarn, however we will accept donations of additional medium weight acrylic yarn for the project. REGISTRATION is required and begins 2 weeks before each session.   We will also accept knitted or crocheted afghan squares made at home from all library users this summer. Squares must measure 7” x 9” and can be made using any stitch. Warm Up America! prefers medium weight/ worsted weight yarn which is machine washable and dryable. Please bring donations to Mrs. Grills at the library by August 28.
