Reading Power Play: Reading Program (sponsored by the Amerks)
10:00  am  

This program runs from October 22, 2014 through January 22, 2015 and is for grades K-12.  For every 3 books you read, you are entitled to enter the county-wide Amerks contest.  Two grand prize winners (one for grades K – 5, the other for grades 6 – 12) will receive: box tickets to the February 22, 2015 Amerks game, a catered dinner in the President’s Lounge at the Blue Cross Arena that evening, and the chance to participate in the ceremonial dropping of the puck! The more you read the more chances you have to win. Look for entry boxes near the children’s room & the young adult area beginning October 20. 

New! Book Babblers Teen Online Book Reviews

This program is for grades 6-12.   We want YOU to be a contributor to our new Book Babblers website! It’s easy ~ simply sign up online and post brief reviews/ comments of the books you read. Check out others’ reviews to help you find your next great book to read. There will be a site for 6th-8th grade and a site for 9th-12th grade. PLUS- every review you post is an automatic entry into a monthly prize drawing! Go to the library’s Teen Page to find a link to Book Babblers. Check out the teen area display case to see monthly prizes.

Teen Tuesday- Movie & Make Stuff to Give!
2:30  pm - 4:15  pm

This program is for 9-12 graders.   Enjoy a movie and free popcorn. We will also have stuff set up to make gifts, including CHAIN MAIL and bead jewelry. Registration is not required.

Homeschool Book Club
10:30  am - 12:00  pm
Age Level: 12 yrs. - 16 yrs.

New members are welcome to join our fun and lively book group!   This month’s book selection is "Rot & Ruin" by Jonathan Maberry, an author who will be appearing at the May 16, 2015 Greater Rochester Teen Book Festival. Simply read the book and come prepared to discuss it.
Summary of "Rot & Ruin":
In the zombie-infested, post-apocalyptic America where Benny Imura lives, every teenager must find a job by the time they turn fifteen or get their rations cut in half. Benny doesn't want to apprentice as a zombie hunter with his boring older brother Tom, but he has no choice. He expects a tedious job whacking zoms for cash, but what he gets is a vocation that will teach him what it means to be human.

Teen Tuesday- Pet Appreciation Day & Game Day
2:30  pm - 4:00  pm

This program is for 9- 12th graders.  Bring in a photo of your pet and take a turn talking about him or her! You can also make a cat or dog toy and a decorated photo frame with a pet theme~ both make great gifts! The game systems will be set up as well with Super Smash Bros. Brawl and more. Registration is not required.

Middle School Madness- Pet Appreciation Day
3:30  pm - 5:00  pm

This program is for 6-8th graders.  Make some dog and cat toys to give as gifts to special pets and decorate a photo frame with a pet theme. Bring in a photo of a favorite pet and take a turn talking about him or her if you wish! REGISTRATION is required and begins November 26.

Magic Monday- Play Magic-the Gathering
3:30  pm - 5:00  pm

This program is for grades 6-12.   Fans of the game meet once a month to play, trade cards, and enjoy free refreshments and a booster pack raffle. Please note that this month’s gathering will be on the third Monday, not the usually scheduled fourth Monday of each month. Registration is not required.

Teen Tuesday- National Chocolate Covered Anything Day & End of Year Party
2:30  pm - 4:00  pm

This program is for grades 9-12.   Let’s celebrate by making chocolates to eat and to give. We will also break out the karaoke machine and have a Just Dance tournament, too. Just want to play Super Smash Bros? We will have it set up on the TV for those who can’t get enough of this super-popular game! Registration is not required.
