Contest Rules 

·         You must be resident of Monroe County to enter.

·         Submitted photographs must be taken within the geographic boundaries of the town of Greece.

·         Entries must be submitted in JPG format through the library’s website starting at 9am on August 1, 2017. Prints will not be accepted. Entries must be in landscape orientations. Maximum size 10 MB. Winners can submit a larger file for printing upon request.

·         Each photographer may submit no more than 3 photographs for consideration.

·         A photo may not have any text or graphics superimposed onto the photo surface. (i.e. no name or logo is to be on the photograph)

·         Photographer is responsible for obtaining permissions if his/her photograph includes an identifiable individual.

·         Workshop presenters and judges are not eligible to enter.

·         Greece Public Library and the Town of Greece reserve the non-exclusive right to use the photographs at their

Upcoming Workshops  

Photography: Basics of Light and Composition Thursday, June 15 at 2pm and 6:30pm

Dick Bennett, a partner at the Image City Photography Gallery in Rochester, will teach you how to avoid common mistakes and take better pictures. He’ll discuss basics of light, composition, and the technical aspects of your camera.

How to photograph landscapes Thursday, June 29 at 2pm or 6:30 pm

This workshop will teach you how to capture the beauty of the world around you. Topics will include what types of gear to use in every situation, how to work with natural light, and what times of the day make for the most compelling images.

Nature Photography Wednesday, July 12 at 2pm and 6:30pm

Photographing the natural world can be both frustrating and immensely rewarding. Learn new techniques for your wildlife photography, weather you want to shoot pictures in your back garden or local country side, a zoo, and wildlife park or nature reserve. Becoming an observant field naturalist will ensure you gain a closer approach to wildlife before they take evasive action. 

Learn to use Adobe Lightroom Software Monday, July 17 6:30pm

Turning good photos onto great photos is the work of the Develop module in Adobe Lightroom software. In one two-hour session, learn how to make your images great.

Black and White Photography Monday, August 7 at 2pm and 6:30pm

Black & white photography produces powerful images that endure the test of time. In this workshop you will learn about tonal contrast in composition, elements such as line, texture, form, and shape and the importance of light.
