2012 state and federal income taxes are due April 15, 2013 and the library can make your tax experience a little bit easier. Tax forms are available at many libraries. Check with your local library to see if they have the form you need. Both New York State and Federal forms and instructions are available online (see below). The  Business & Social Sciences Division of the Central Library also has Federal and New York State tax forms and instructions for prior years. Some of these are in a reproducible format and can be photocopied. Many tax forms for other states can be found online. Click here for more information.

Free Tax Preparation in Monroe County:

The C.A.S.H. (Creating Assets, Savings, and Hope) Coalition will provide free tax preparation if your total household income in 2012 was less than $50,000 for families with qualifying children and less than $35,000 for childless workers and you meet certain other criteria. The C.A.S.H. Coalition's tax preparation Super Site locations will be open starting January 21, 2013.  Appointments are encouraged and can be made by calling (585) 242-6485.
