The Science and History Division on the 3rd floor of the Bausch and Lomb building would like to announce the Vietnam Learning Center. A generous gift from Local Chapter 20 of the Vietnam Veterans enabled the division to purchase display cabinets, in country maps, the magazine “Between the Lines”, and many circulating books.
Come to the Center where a 52” TV plays different videos running continuously throughout the day. One film portrays the strenuous six-day, eighty-hour training period which the replacement soldier received in Vietnam. Another shows operations in Vietnam in 1966, while a different one features rare wartime footage shot by U.S. Army combat cameramen between 1968 and 1970. Finally, one shows the men who came home from Vietnam and reveals their struggles, courage, and fears. A large directional speaker provides sound to these videos without disturbing those near the Center.
A large, hand-crafted diorama depicting a battle scene was donated and is now viewable. A uniform and jacket appropriate of the time are visible, as are flags from different branches of the US military.
Please come and experience this multi-media display showcasing the Vietnam Conflict. We are honored to provide this Learning Center, so visit often as new media will be added, and the Center will change. For more information, please call (585) 428-8110.
