The Central Library offers a Basic Computer Use, Basic Internet/Computer Skills and Basic Microsoft Word 2007 classes. All classes meet in the Computer Training Lab on the first floor of the Bausch and Lomb Public Library Building at the Central Library. Due to space limitations, pre-registration is required. Students may register by calling the Information Center at 428-7300 or by visiting the Information Center Reference Desk. The following 1.5 hour classes are held on a regular basis:
Basic Computer Use - This beginner’s class introduces what a computer is and how it works. Learn the basics of computer hardware and popular software. You’ll also begin to practice using a mouse to open computer programs and play games. Currently offered every Tuesday.
Basic Internet and Computer Skills - Seldom or never used a mouse before? Then this is the class for you! We’ll introduce you to Windows and the computer desktop before connecting to the World Wide Web - the Eighth Wonder of the World! You’ll learn how to navigate the Internet, scroll, and find information you need using a search engine. Offered every other Sunday from October to May.
Basic Microsoft Word 2007 - Need to type up a resume, letter or report? This class will help you do that by introducing the basics of using the 2007 version of Microsoft's word processing software for the PC. Basic typing, editing and formatting in Word 2007 will be covered. Currently offered every other Thursday.
