Details:  African Culture through Art Saturday, June 24 from 12:30pm-1:30pm in the Rundel Arts Room Join us for an informative and culturally enriching discussion looking at the symbolism within African art and how those symbols were important establishing and transmitting cultural and spiritual values through art. Also traditional African artistic motifs and symbolism impact on modern artist globally will be discussed. Participants will learn the about the vibrant cultures that shaped the art of African societies and its various ethnic groups. Cultures like the Yoruba and the Ashanti will be highlighted, as well as Ancient Egypt and ancient Nubia. All those who attend the lecture will leave with a greater understanding and appreciation for African art and art in general for all cultures. This lecture also will highlight the works on display.
