KeyBank Rochester Fringe Festival Comes to Central Library 

KeyBank Rochester Fringe Festival 2017 

All of the following events will be held at Central Library of Rochester & Monroe County, 115 South Avenue, Rochester NY.

Events requiring tickets can be purchased at rochesterfringe.com. Remaining tickets will be available at the door starting one hour before curtain.

The Central Library is accessible to people with disabilities. To request specific accommodations, call 585-428-8304 ten days prior to the program.

 

Saturday, September 16  

 Mrs. Kasha Davis 

Children's Storytime with Mrs. Kasha Davis (free, no tickets required) 

10:30am - 11:30am, Kate Gleason Auditorium, Bausch & Lomb Library Building, first floor

Join drag superstar Mrs. Kasha Davis for stories and a craft project focused on celebrating gender individuality and expression. This program will be geared towards preschool-age children and their families. No registration required, but seating and craft supplies will be available on a first-come, first served basis, and priority will be given to families with young children.

 

 Roc Bottom Slam Poets 

Roc Bottom Slam Poets at the Central Library (free, no tickets required) 

12:30pm - 1:30pm, Harold Hacker Hall, Rundel Memorial Building, first floor

Formed in 2013 under the direction of Lu Highsmith, the Roc Bottom Slam Team is Rochester's first adult slam poetry team. This diverse group includes eleven dynamic poets from all walks of life, who deliver gut-wrenching, real-life messages, and impact their audiences with feelings of resilience, determination and hope.

 

 River to Roof Tours 

Rundel River to Roof Tours ($12) 

1:30pm and 3:30pm, beginning in Harold Hacker Hall, Rundel Memorial Building, first floor

Tour the ‘backstage’ of the Rundel Memorial Building of Central Library from bottom to top! Tours will visit the Lower Stacks, where a trap door to the old millrace will be opened for viewing . In the Upper Stacks, participants may hear about various ghostly experiences staff have had in the building. Tours will stop in the Local History & Genealogy Division and learn about some special items in the library’s collection. A stop on the roof will reveal a spectacular view of the Genesee River and the city. Wear comfortable shoes and be prepared to stand and/or walk for 75 minutes. 

 

Wednesday, September 20  

 Murder Mystery 

Murder Mystery at the Central Library (free, no tickets required) 

6pm - 7:15pm, Harold Hacker Hall, Rundel Memorial Building, first floor

Over the years there have been numerous tales of ghost sightings in the Rundel Memorial Library Building of Central Library. A new story has just begun, and it is one of our own, and you are invited to use your best sleuthing skills to help us catch the murderer.

Digital Drawing
 

Digital Drawing Observation (free, no tickets required) 

Ongoing from 11:30am - 1:30pm, Harold Hacker Hall, Rundel Memorial Building, first floor

Be amazed at what digital can do!  Observe digital drawing in the Rundel Memorial Building of Central Library. Watch traditional drawing techniques, such as gesture, contour, and modeling, on a computer tablet with a digital pencil that is pressure, angle and speed sensitive. 

 

 Central_Ghosts 

 

Spooky Stories in the Stacks ($10) 

12noon, 1pm, 2pm and 3pm (Each tour is 45 minutes long), start in Harold Hacker Hall, Rundel Memorial Building, first floor

Ghost stories like you’ve never heard them before – in the secret stacks of the Rundel Memorial Building of Central Library! Get a private backstage tour on the site of reported paranormal activity and hear ghastly true tales of old Rochester. Stories may include the Murder at Falls Field, the Fox Sisters, and the unsolved death of Laura Young underneath what is now the downtown Central Library.
