Because of Women Like Her...Winning the Vote in New York State An Exhibition at the Central Library

WomenThis year marks the 100th anniversary of women winning the right to vote in New York State. To commemorate this historic milestone, the Rochester Public Library has teamed up with local museums, universities, and historical organizations to create a community-wide exhibition exploring Rochester's role in the woman suffrage and women's rights movements of the 19th and early 20th centuries. Come learn about this history among an eclectic mix of rare artifacts like Susan B. Anthony's dress, Martha Matilda Harper's prototype for the original salon shampoo chair, a Bloomer outfit, a variety of suffrage banners, pendants, flyers, and so much more!

MCLS Libraries and the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention are teaming up to bring you the MCLS wide program, "Talk Saves Lives: A Brief Introduction to Suicide Prevention". Mobile Printing Now Available through the Central Library

Mobile PrintingThe Central Library is very happy to announce that we are now able to offer Mobile Printing. What does this mean? Anyone can print from any personal laptop, computer or mobile device to the library's public printers using an internet connection. The job will stay available for 72 hours after submission, and can be picked up during normal business hours. Printing charges will be the same as if you are inside the library - BW .20 / COLOR .50 per page. Attached you will see instructions on how to access the mobile print service using 3 different methods - a website, an app, or by email.

OverDrive Cancels Nook Periodicals

OverDriveOverdrive is discontinuing their Nook periodicals platform. As a result, as our subscriptions expire (the bulk of our titles expire on April 8), we will lose access to many of our digital magazine and newspaper titles. Overdrive is working on a new digital magazine platform, but is not yet ready to launch it. We regret any inconvenience this has caused customers. We realize that this has been a very popular service and we are looking at alternate sources for digital magazines and newspapers.

WebsiteNewThe Monroe County Library System launched a new website Friday, January 20, 2017 (www.libraryweb.org). The new layout provides better and easier access to the system's collections, services and electronic resources, including a new mobile-friendly design.
