Wine Tasting Fundraiser at Gates Public Library

Join us on the evening of Saturday, April 29th from 7 - 9 pm, at Gates Public Library for an evening of entertainment, wine, and food in support of early childhood literacy. Presented by ACM Global Laboratories.

Wine will be provided by A Gust of Sun Winery. The evening's events will feature a sampling of wine, hors d'oeuvres, desserts, silent auctions, and a wine pull. The Bushel Brothers will be performing live music to entertain guests. In addition to supporting a fun evening of entertainment, proceeds from the event will be given to the Gates Public Library to benefit an important early childhood literacy initiative.

Teen Bookmark Contest

Teen Bookmark ContestWant to be famous and have your artwork seen by thousands? The Greece Public Library if hosting a bookmark contest for all Monroe County teens. Two winners will be selected from each of the following age groups: 12-15 and 16-19. Winners receive a Greece Public Library prize basket and 10 copies of their bookmark. 

Winning designs will be printed and distributed at the library this summer. Your name will be on the finished bookmark. Hurry! Deadline is May 30, 2017.

Children’s Film Festival

Children Film FestSince 2006, Children's Institute and Child Care Council, Inc.-- along with Rochester Association for the Education of Young Children (RAEYC), Monroe County Libraries, Rochester City School District, Early Childhood Education Quality Council, Family Child Care Satellites of Greater Rochester, Hunter Institute on Young Children and several other educational organizations in the early childhood community -- has held a Children's Film Festival during the RAEYC Month of the Young Child. Its mission is “to provide an educational forum for accessible, appropriate high quality films and other visual media for children.”  

To celebrate April as the Month of the Young Child, The Children’s Film Festival, an innovative collaboration of community organizations, is offering a presentation of high quality films to children and families.  Please join us as we celebrate literature, imagination and the innocence of childhood.

OverDrive Cancels Nook Periodicals

OverDriveOverdrive is discontinuing their Nook periodicals platform. As a result, as our subscriptions expire (the bulk of our titles expire on April 8), we will lose access to many of our digital magazine and newspaper titles. Overdrive is working on a new digital magazine platform, but is not yet ready to launch it. We regret any inconvenience this has caused customers. We realize that this has been a very popular service and we are looking at alternate sources for digital magazines and newspapers.

Library of the YearIn recognition of National Library Week, the Rochester Regional Library Council (RRLC) will name three great libraries in the Rochester area: one public library; one academic or special library; and one school library, Library of the Year 2017

 Do you love your library?  

Tell us why your library is special to you. It isn’t just the numbers that count – it is the love that comes through in the nominations you write.

Winners will receive a banner and engraved plaque to hang in their library, a $100 gift card, and will be recognized at the RRLC Annual Meeting in June at Casa Larga.

 SUBMISSION DEADLINE: 

Midnight, Saturday, April 15, 2017
