Description: The Local History Division collects, preserves, and provides access to resources (both print and non-print) pertaining to the history of the Rochester metropolitan area, from earliest times to the present. The Rochester Public Library Local History Division Picture File collection consists mainly of black and white images from the 19th and 20th century. The Rochester Public Library Local History Postcard collection contains postcards showing scenes from Rochester and the surrounding area since the early 20th century.
Physical Access to the Collection: The complete collection is housed in the Local History Division on the second floor of the Rundel Memorial Building and is open to the public during library hours.
Printing Images: The credit line "From the collection of the Rochester Public Library Local History Division" must accompany any image printed from this collection. Images may be printed for personal, educational, or research use only.
Use and Restrictions, Including Copyright Information: The contributors to the Rochester Images database provide these images for non-commercial, personal, educational, or research use only.
