Outreach Services

Outreach services bring the library to under-served patrons through programs and services. Whether patrons are in their homes, senior housing, rehabilitation centers or county correctional facilities, Outreach services brings the library experience and resources to the community.

Outreach Collection

The Outreach Collection housed at the Central Library has the largest collection of large print books available in the MCLS. The collection includes many formats (CD, DVD, VHS) and genres

In-Home Services

Many member libraries offer delivery of materials to those who cannot visit their local library due to a medical or physical disability that leaves them homebound. Check with your local library for available services, or contact the MCLS Outreach Department  to see if you qualify for special borrower status. We also have a wide range of materials for the visually impaired.

Job Information

Outreach staff offer presentations about library resources that can assist job seekers. These presentations can either be in the Central Library or we can come to your location. Demonstrations on using select job search websites are included. We are also available to give general library information to community organizations, agencies and groups.

Re-Entry Services

Making Moves: A Listing of Transitional Services in the Rochester, NY and Monroe County Area serves as a reference guide for finding various types of assistance in the Rochester area, targeted for both ex-offenders and newcomers to the vicinity in search of basic services.
